FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

When do you take deposits on a puppy?

After the puppies have been born and are nursing well. We work through the waiting list. Once the puppy is selected, the deposit can be placed. We will take Venmo or PayPal.

Is the puppy deposit refundable?

To reserve a puppy, there is a $500 non-refundable deposit. The only exception is if the puppy does not pass the vet health checkup at 7 weeks.

How do I get on a waiting list?

We announce the date and time for the waiting list application to be opened. The announcement is posted on our website and Facebook page. We normally set it for 7:30 pm Central Time. Once the time arrives, we post the application on our website. You will find the button on the top part of our home page. You will need to refresh your page right at 7:30 pm. We encourage you to fill out the application only once and do it quickly. The very last question on the application asks for "anything else you would like to tell us." You may want to prepare a paragraph beforehand to paste it into the application.

Are we able to visit our puppy before 8 weeks?

We allow visitors during the first week that the puppies are born, while the mother’s milk is protecting them from viruses. After that, we like to wait till after 7 weeks when the puppies get their first shots. We are more than happy to do a video chat upon request.

How will we be updated on our puppy once the deposit is placed?

We post updated pictures on our website once a week. EX: if your puppy is born on a Sunday, we plan to have new pictures each Sunday. After week 6 plan to have a video or two to show how the puppy is growing and playing.

The deposit is paid, but when do we pay the remaining amount?

The remaining adoption fee will be due when the puppy is picked up at 8 weeks. If your puppy is being shipped, we will need the remaining amount 48 hours in advance of being picked up.

When do we pick up our puppy?

Pick up will be at 8 weeks. This allows for the vet check at 7 weeks and the puppies first shots. Since we are a small breeder, we are not able to keep puppies past 8 weeks. There will be a $10 dollar a day fee for up to 5 extra days. If you are not able to pick up your puppy at that point, we reserve the right to offer the puppy to someone else on the waiting list. Your deposit will not be refunded.

What if I need to return a puppy?

Our goal is that your puppy will find its forever home with you. However, we understand some unforeseen situations may arise where the only option is rehoming your puppy. Here are a few options we offer at Gardner Lane Puppies for puppy returns. Option A: You can Return your puppy and we will re-home your puppy for you. No refund will be given. Option B: If you need to find a new home for your puppy, we can help post the puppy on our website. This will limit the number of homes the puppy is transferred to and is hopefully less traumatic for the puppy. We will connect you with potential adopters and you can arrange a transfer/payment. We cannot guarantee placement of the puppy.
